What is Asbestos?

Asbestos testing is recommended for people who work around asbestos fibers. You can find asbestos testing labs, asbestos testing kits and also other asbestos testing services for asbestos companies and employees as well. Asbestos testing kits are also available for environmental consultants all across the nation. Asbestos testing is very important for construction workers who work with building and repair materials that may contain asbestos and pose a serious health risk.
Asbestos is a very harmful carcinogen which can cause mesothelioma and also lung cancer if one is exposed to it repeatedly. Asbestos gets very easily air borne and this is when it is the most dangerous. It is present in a lot of materials that we use like pipes, hair dryers, floor tiles, roofing material, dry wall, linoleum, insulation and other construction material. If one demolishes or repairs any of these materials one can get > exposed to asbestos fibers, and asbestos exposure can cause problems even decades after the exposure has occurred.

What can asbestos exposure do?

Asbestos exposure can cause a very serious health condition called Mesothelioma, which is a cancer of the mesothelium, the lining of your abdominal cavity, lungs and heart. Mesothelioma is a life threatening disease, and its treatment is very difficult and costly as well. Usually the symptoms of mesothelioma dont occur until decades after the exposure to asbestos. In such cases it is already too late to treat the disease as it is rarely seen in early stages. Construction workers who work around asbestos containing materials are at very high risk for developing the disease as they are constantly building, drilling, installing and removing parts of buildings like roofing, insulation, tiles etc that can be high in asbestos content. Asbestos exposure is also linked with lung cancer, which is also a devastating condition. Asbestos removal from constructed buildings and other places can be done if the asbestos containing materials is exposed to the environment, but if it is deeply embedded in roofing or insulation, it is very difficult to perform adequate asbestos removal. Asbestos fibers can be easily inhaled while one is working with asbestos containing material; this is why it is so important to test construction material for asbestos through a reliable asbestos testing laboratory.
